Aside from the pleasantries of educating my own child and really having a vested interest in their education, I love the flexibility. I love not having to dress them while they are half asleep and pushing them out the door with a frozen waffle in their hand.

We can also teach on our own time and take breaks as needed. There are some days where we start later than others and that works well. I know there are people who believe that school is an introduction to the “real world”, but after all these are children we’re talking about. They’re not adults and they’re not completing mundane tasks in an office while sitting at a desk. They’re learning, growing and figuring out who they are as people.

They have the rest of their adult lives to figure our how to function in the “real world”.
